3 Months

Dear Quinn,

While this blog has been neglected, I've still managed to take a picture of you every day for the past three months and I hope to eventually share them with the world. The good news is that I'm not blogging because I'm spending so much time with you and that's how it should be!

I can't believe my baby girl is already three months old! For some reason it seems like you were two months old forever. It wasn't an especially long month but we were very busy. You flew on an airplane four times in that month, one trip to Kentucky to see Mason, Torey and Grammie and one to Buffalo for cousin Erick's wedding. You got a passport, you rolled over front to back, you met your Great-Grammie, Uncle Tom and all of your Pardee great aunts plus some cousins. You've developed such a little personality and I feel like we are totally in sync. I can't say I have a 100% record of knowing what you want but now I'm pretty darn good at knowing when you're hungry, when you're tired, when you just want to cuddle and when you want to play. You're great at communicating!

You are also great at nursing now and I'm so happy about that. We struggled with thrush from week 4 to week 9 and that was truly awful for me. Thankfully, you never seemed to notice. Now I actually enjoy feeding you and look forward to it. It's such a nice change. You've also become pretty good at finding what you need, latching and going to town. It's awesome. I hope to continue this nursing relationship for a long time.

You still love your paci and we are very dependent on it around here. We're ok with it though. We like to see you happy and overall you are a pretty darn happy girl. My favorite time with you is in the morning. We usually have about an hour of play time when Daddy gets up for work and you wake up to eat. You are all smiles and coos and gurgles. We have little talks and hang out for awhile in my bed and then you get sleepy again and we go back to sleep with you by my side. I love snuggling with you and we both sleep so well when we're next to each other. You're also getting better at sleeping on your own though so now I'm trying to find a balance of you sleeping in the pack and play and sleeping in bed with me. I think we may transition you to your crib in the next few months but I'm really not in any hurry. I like having you close by.

We've been trying to figure out who you look like. I think you look like me, Grammie thinks you look like Daddy and some days you don't look like anyone. You just look like Quinn. My little muffin.

This coming month should be extra fun as you continue to 'wake up' and take in your environment. Three months is such a great age and we have so much to look forward to!

I love you to the moon and back, Baby Girl. I can't wait to watch you grow up, just don't go too fast, ok?

Mommy

5 weeks old

Today was our newborn session with Amy Ro Photography!! I've been looking forward to this shoot since... oh.... February when I first talked to Amy about it. We scheduled it for 2 weeks after my due date, just in case I went late. Haha. So the result was a newborn session with a 5 week old! Thankfully, Quinn was a champ and she slept really well for her pictures. I am SO ridiculously excited to see the gallery from Amy.

If you're following this blog you'll notice that I'm a bit behind but I'm working on it!! There are just so many other things to do besides blog!

I'm thinking about doing one post a week with a photo from each day... That seems more manageable somehow... :)

Quinn, 4 weeks! Day 29 -35

Quinn is 4 weeks old today! I can't believe how fast it's going. I feel like I'm going to wake up tomorrow and she'll be in kindergarten! However, that scenario would require actually getting some sleep. :) I'll save my real letter to her for her one month birthday but I'm feeling quite nostalgic already! This week has been tough, I've been in a lot of pain which makes mothering hard sometimes but I wouldn't give it up for anything. These have been an amazing 4 weeks!

I'm going to start doing weekly posts now since I'm not doing well at keeping up with the daily ones!
Enjoy!

Day 28 - Hot Mama

We went out to a friend's BBQ and it was important to me to feel good about how I looked so I went all out and I felt great!

The Quinn played on her play mat for the first time.
And Mommy and Daddy had a date night while Uncle Mason and Aunt Abby babysat!

Day 21: Lazy Saturday

First full day in Cloth Diapers!

We went for a walk in our kick butt stroller and saved the life of a little sparrow that had gotten stuck in a fence!

Then we enjoyed some dinner and some wine :)

Day 20: Happy Due Date!

I can't believe that today is my due date! Even though we weren't 100% prepared, we can't image the last 3 weeks without her being here! Happy due date, Baby!

Day 13: Quinn Loves Daddy

Day 13:
Today we went for our first family walk by the lake and Steve wore her for the first time. We got some strange looks but I think they were more out of interest than anything else! Real men wear their babies!
When we got home everyone was exhausted. In the evenings Steve will take her so I can sleep or just have some alone time and most nights I come out and see something like this :) Love it.

Day 11: Sleeping Beauty

Day 11:
Isn't she lovely? We love our Aden and Anais swaddle blankets! They are the perfect weight for this weather!

Day 12: First Party!

Day 12:
We went to a BBQ at my brother's house. I'd say we're all looking pretty awesome for having a baby 11 days beforehand! Q even got to wear a little dress. I wore her in my homemade cotton gauze wrap so no one would try to touch her, it totally worked! People could peek at her face but she didn't get anyone's germs. Another reason to love babywearing!

Day 10: More snuggles and Baby Wearing!

Day 10:
I swear I have the cuddliest little daughter and I love it! The first photo is from a nap on my tummy after nursing and the second is from our first time using the Moby wrap. She snuggled right in and slept for a few hours! I'm a huge fan of babywearing so I'm glad that Quinn seems to be a fan as well!

Day 8: Cats/Family/ Baby's First Photoshoot!

Day 8: George never seemed particularly big until little Q came along! 7lb baby, 12lb cat. We're hoping to take more pictures like this as she grows so we can compare. George will be the tough one to pose though. I have no hope of getting a photo with Quinn and Stella, she's too skittish!

This afternoon I did Quinn's first 'pro' photo shoot. Basically I set everything up like I would do for my clients and, with Steve's help, did a mini photo shoot with her. It was cut short because it was really hot (the A/C had gone out) and Mama was still in a lot of pain from giving birth one week prior so I had to stop myself before I hurt myself even more. We got a few keepers though!

That night my family came over and brought dinner. Uncle Mason changed his first diaper (with typical Mason enthusiasm!), Mom did what she does best, cuddled the baby. They are so cute together!

Day 7: Snuggling

Day 7: Snuggling
Today Quinn got to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa Crane. They met her in the hospital but when they were visiting she was having her blood drawn so she was SCREAMING, then had an explosive meconium poop, then needed to practice breast feeding so, suffice to say, they weren't really able to meet her in the middle of all the craziness. We were so glad they came though! So today they came and made us stew in the crock pot and hung out while I napped and fed Q. Thanks so much for visiting!

This girl loves to snuggle, she loves her swaddle, she loves her daddy and she loves sleeping on Mommy's chest. I was so happy to catch the classic 'baby sleeping on daddy' shot with them. Steve was a little weirder out to wake up with my 5d in his face but I'm sure he'll get used to it! And then I got a little sleep smile from my best girl! Very productive photography day!
